ANDERSON MURIEL INNOVATIONS FOR GUITAR TECHNIQUES HARMONY ARRANGING FINGERSTYLE TABLATURE DVD

ANDERSON MURIEL, INNOVATIONS FOR GUITAR. TABLATURE DVD

ADVANCED TECHNIQUES, HARMONY AND ARRANGING CONCEPTS FOR FINGERSTYLE GUITAR.

Format: DVD - TAB Guitar
Artist : Muriel Anderson
Author : Muriel Anderson

Designed to motivate and inspire students, Guitar Sherpa's innovative learning systems employ a hands-on, contextual format. Students "play" their way through Guitar Sherpa curriculum rather than working through tedious examples and exercises.

Muriel Anderson, world-renowned guitarist and composer, presents this intensive study program for intermediate and advanced fingerstyle guitar players. Innovations for Acoustic Guitar guides the student through essential theory, techniques and other "tricks of the trade" to enhance the player's performance, arranging and composition skills. Using several of her own compositions as lesson examples (Arioso, Mister Chester, Two Shores, A Baker's Dozen and Muriel's highly popular Angelina Baker Medley), Innovations for Acoustic Guitar reveals a variety of Muriel's signature techniques and approaches for generating new ideas and fresh arrangements or compositions. You'll learn how to flavor your arrangements and compositions with a variety of harmonic techniques including Irish and Cuban influences and odd time signatures. You'll learn how to develop a theme, play expressively and imitate the sounds of a banjo, mandolin or bass. Muriel also demonstrates how connect notes in a rhythmic tune in the classic style of Chet Atkins.

Innovations for Acoustic Guitar will strengthen your fingerstyle technique, enhance your performance and presentation of material and spark innovative composition and arranging.

Hands-On Learning Tools include:

- Text Lesson Guide,

- Standard Notation,

Product Description:
Although his scorching fingerpicking was most impressive at first glance, a closer look at "Just Us" reveals that he is equally adept at what many musicians consider as a more difficult task: playing fewer notes... ones that mean more, and say more with less, as he does on album opener "A Simple Gift", title cut "Just Us", and "One Sad Clown".

"Just Us" is an album consisting largely of his own compositions inspired by his two main guitars "Merle" and "Pearl". Along the way we are treated to a barn-storming version of "Alabama Jubilee" (it must be tunes like this that caused Chet Atkins to say of Jones "He plays like he's double-parked"), "Collage-a-Reed" and "Clawin'" (each inspired by mentor Jerry Reed), while "Let the Sun Shine In" sounds like an instant fingerpicking classic that you could swear you have heard before, but haven't. Including detailed notation on 15 of Buster’s songs from "Just Us", this Book/CD lesson will challenge even the best players. Presented in standard notation and tablature.

Biography Buster B. Jones was a master of the guitar styles of Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and Jerry Reed. He explored their music, styles and techniques, but developed his own unique style and depth. Buster was known as a blazing fast and dynamic player, and was given the nickname "The Machine Gun" by admiring fans in France, but his original compositions expose a lyrical and gentler side to his musical personality. Raised in Ames, Iowa, Buster began playing guitar and mandolin at an early age, following in the footsteps of his older brother Ron, who Buster idolized as the "best left-handed guitarist ever." It became apparent however that by Buster's mid-teens he would have a special gift for music, and his musical ability exploded. Buster never took formal lessons, but developed his mastery of the guitar through sheer trial and error, and by diligently trying to learn the complex styles of players like Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed. "I touch on many different styles and approaches to playing lead and rhythm guitar. My goal as a player is to expand these perimeters and express what I feel musically," says Buster, who often played for other guitar players at conventions like the CAAS in Nashville and NAMM. 'Playing to a bunch of guitar players and fans is like watching Dawn of the Dead on video. They just stare 'ou slack-jawed, looking like they want to eat your brain. It's a wonderful feeling!" Buster B. Jones has several early albums, which are out of print and three CDs, Fingers in Flight, Guts and Steel and Just Us. He also has produced 12 teaching videos for Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop. Buster B. Jones lived in Eugene Oregon and performed regularly across Canada and the United States. He was the 1990 winner of the National Fingerpicking Championship held yearly in Winfield, Kansas. Buster was not just a great guitar player but a teacher and a friend to many. He spent countless hours sharing his knowledge and skills with young players and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work closely with Buster on this CD. Tom Redmond

As a child, I grew up listening to such greats as Hank Williams, Jimmy Rodgers, Hank Snow and Merle Travis. My father Buster Jones was a great entertainer; and with my mom and big brother Ron played polkas and square dances. Dad even had a radio show of his own. He would do the weather and time and then play some music. Although my dad's playing ability was somewhat limited, his ability to capture an audience was what intrigued me the most. Dad said "Talk to the folks like they are old friends and they'll become old friends." I live by those words. I've never met a stranger. My dad Buster, mom Allene and Ron were my first influences, although in time I had many others, like Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Thorn Bresh and Nokie Edwards. In the game of life, however, I admire none more than my family: Dad and Mom Jones, Ron Jones, Collene McGlenn, Darlene Sanchez, Kay Anderson, and Roger and Gary Jones. This recording is dedicated to them, because I love and miss them.

Legendary guitarist Steve "The Deacon" Hunter is known for his collaborations with Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Peter Gabriel and others, as well as his extraordinary solo projects, such as this 2008 CD. Here are all 11 tunes in note-for-note transcriptions with tab approved by Hunter himself! Includes a bio and his extensive intro, plus a CD of his original recordings! Songs:

On the making of the CD...
I have always been fascinated by the recording process and have always tried to have something around to record and experiment with. Everything from just a two-track recorder to an eight-track, even an eight-track cassette recorder. So I was thrilled when programs like Pro Tools came along. There are now many terrific digital computer-based recording software applications out there. Pro Tools just happened to be my choice. I needed a sort of "trial" song to use as a learning tool for Pro Tools, so I worked up the arrangement for "Softly and Tenderly." That was not the first thing I recorded on Pro Tools, but it was the first actual project. It was a blast. I decided early on that I wanted to treat Pro Tools as if it were a tape recorder, even though it does some amazingly sophisticated things (which I do use from time to time). But what I mean by that is that I try to do "takes," as if recording to tape. In other words, I try to record through the entire song if possible, depending on the arrangement. Or, at the very least, I try to record, say, a verse completely through. With Pro Tools it's so tempting to just record a good verse and a good chorus and then copy and paste. But for me, many things are lost when you do that-one being spontaneity, of course, but dynamics as well, among other things. That's how all the pieces were done on the CD. Any solo guitar piece was recorded from start to finish-no fixes. The more complex arrangements were recorded just as I would have done in a studio with tape, which would have been sections at a time. For me that kept the creative flow going throughout the entire song instead of just in bits. Even though the verses of anyone song might have the same chord patterns, there are subtle differences that, I think, please the ear. At least, they do forme. At the time I recorded this CD, I was living in a very noisy apartment in Hollywood. As you can imagine, that made recording on mic virtually impossible. As luck would have it, I had been sent a prototype acoustic guitar preamp by a company called PreS onus. It would later become their AcoustiQ acoustic guitar preamp. It was a tube preamp and sounded fabulous, though sometimes a little noisy. (I'm not sure the production version of that preamp sounded as good as the prototype. Sadly, the one I had finally died.) That preamp was the primary piece of gear used to record almost all of the acoustic guitars on Hymns for Guitar. And the primary guitar was my older (1993) Taylor 420. I fell in love with the sound of the guitar from the very beginning. I still have it and have had some work done on it, which has made it sound and play even more heavenly. I also used a Baby Taylor, which has been strung in Nashville tuning, which, by way of explanation, is basically the higher octave strings of a 12-string set for the bottom four strings and normal strings for the top two. The Baby Taylor sounds so sweet tuned that way that I leave it like that now. I also used a very special guitar to me. It's a 1964 Oscar Teller nylon-string. The age isn't necessarily what makes this guitar so special. Peter Gabriel and Bob Ezrin gave it to me at the end of the sessions for Peter's first solo Lp, which included "Solsbury Hill." Robert Fripp played that guitar on the song "Humdrum" on that record. And I subsequently played it on two of Alice Cooper's biggest hit records, "I Never Cry" and "You and Me." I've owned that guitar since about 1977 and it's now like an old friend. All those years of the wood drying has caused some problems, but it has also made it sound rich and sweet. I think I do things a little differently when it comes to arranging and creating parts for overdub. There are two basic things I do; one involves actually working out a particular part and the other is basically improvising part. I have developed those two methods over the years through the sessions and live work I've done with other artists. Both methods work for me and I use both all the time. When it comes to improvising a part, I may just change tunings and play along with the track to see what develops. If something starts to happen, I'll simply hit record. Other times I like to work out specific parts need to happen a certain way to emphasize a rhythm or lay a nice foundation. "Shall We Gather at the River" is a good example of a constructed part. The arpeggio that form the basic foundation for the song were worked out specifically to do what they do. As far as song selection, I wanted to do some of my favorites as well as any that might inspire an arrangement. I was looking for beautiful melodies and I prefer the older hymns-the older the better. And very obscure composers, which, again, I preferred, wrote many of them. "The Old Rugged Cross" was my father's favorite hymn. Bob Ezrin suggested "Angel Band" and "Will My Mother Know Me There," both of which I hadn't heard before but loved the moment I heard them ...

THE BRAZILIAN SOUND FOR FINGERSTYLE GUITAR RICK UDLER TABLATURE DVD CHITARRA BRASILIANA

THE BRAZILIAN SOUND FOR FINGERSTYLE GUITAR, BY RICK UDLER. SHEET MUSIC BOOKLET WITH GUITAR TABLATURE & DVD

DVD DI MUSICA, LEZIONE PER CHITARRA CON SPARTITI E TABLATURE.

When Rick was 11, his family moved to São Paulo, Brazil, and soon after he took up the guitar. While still in his teens, he began performing professionally in São Paulo.

From 1981-1987, Rick lived in New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Miami, where he studied, performed, and built a reputation as a versatile player with a remarkable command of bossa nova.

Rick headed back to Brazil in 1987 to rub elbows with the players he admires so much, as well as to research Brazilian music straight from the source – he's been living there ever since. In 1990, he teamed up with vocalist extraordinaire Maria Alvim; the two continue to perform together to this day.

In 1993 and 1994, Rick was commissioned to compose for the award-winning Grupo de Dois dance company. In 1996, Rhythm and Romance, the highly anticipated debut CD of the Udler-Alvim duo, was released in the U.S. The CD includes Rick's compositions with famed Brazilian lyricists Paulo Cesar Pinheiro and J.C. Costa Netto and guest appearances by some of Brazil’s top musicians, including world-renown artists João Parahyba (percussion) and Bocato (trombone).

Publications such as JazzTimesJazzizJust Jazz GuitarAcoustic GuitarRhythm Music, and The Beat gave the recording outstanding reviews, and it was chosen “best debut album of the year” by the nationally syndicated radio program The Sounds of Brazil.

In 1999, Rick had the pleasure to produce legendary Brazilian guitarist Paulinho Nogueira’s first U.S. release, Reflections, which received superb reviews. For a complete change of pace and a bow to his childhood idol, Rick performed as George Harrison in a 2002 Beatles-revival theater production in São Paulo.

Rick’s first entirely instrumental CD, Papaya, was released in Brazil in 2006. The album was conceived as an homage to the acoustic guitar and recorded, mixed and co-produced by studio veteran Eduardo Gebara. Percussion ace João Parahyba once more adds his unmistakable touch along with the superb Zé Alexandre on acoustic bass and on one track, Lika Meinberg on piano. The Brazilian and international press have been unanimous in their praise.

In 2007 and 2008 Rick toured in Brazil and the United States, which included performances and Brazilian guitar workshops at the annual Chet Atkins Appreciation Society convention in Nashville,Tennessee, one of the major fingerstyle guitar events in the USA.

The Brazilian Sound for Fingerstyle Guitar, a DVD lesson taught by Rick and produced by Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop was released in January of 2009. During the lesson, Rick shares many of the essential techiniques that are unique to Brazilian guitar styles and which are appreciated around the world.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, arrangement: Rick Udler

AMIGO PAULO

Brazil has produced some of the most vibrant and exciting guitar music in the instrument's history. In this lesson, Rick Udler discusses and demonstrates styles, techniques, and rhythms of Brazil's great players. This is a unique opportunity for guitarists to delve into the beautiful sounds of this musical land.

Rick begins by going over chords that are commonly used by Brazilian guitarists. He then teaches the accompaniment to singer/songwriter Gilberto Gil's beautiful composition, "A Paz", to illustrate the use of chords with open strings. A step-by-step analysis of Bossa Nova accompaniment in the João Gilberto style follows along with suggestions on how to develop a better feel for this sophisticated, syncopated groove.

The solo guitar rendition of the Antonio Carlos Jobim/Newton Mendonça classic "One Note Samba" will be a welcome addition to many players repertoires with it's rhythmic drive and rich harmony.

Samba rhythms are then explored with examples that are sure to enhance one's groove and arsenal of techniques. Rick also gives examples of inner string movement which will prove invaluable to those looking for ways to generate more excitement and authenticity in their comping. A sambified version of "Happy Birthday" demonstrates how to apply these techniques to a familiar tune and make it sound fresh.

And, to provide an even greater challenge for all players, Rick gives a detailed analysis of his tour de force solo guitar piece "Amigo Paulo", composed as an homage to his friend, guitar legend Paulinho Nogueira (1927-2003). This tune with it's choro influences incorporates many of the techniques Rick learned directly from the master and is sure to provide much musical food for thought for players who are looking for innovative new colors and textures to add to their playing.
