HENDRIX JIMI, WOODSTOCK. In parte anche ripresa nel noto film sul festival di Woodstock, l'esibizione di Hendrix e dei "gypsy sun & rainbows", è celebre per una interpretazione improvvisata dell'inno americano, ove con la sua chitarra imitava le raffiche dei mitra e le esplosioni delle bombe della guerra del Vietnam. "The octavia" è un apparecchio inventato dal famoso tecnico-mago Roger Mayer, e produce un suono un'ottava più in alto di quello che si sta suonando. "The univibe" è uno strumento elettronico disegnato per imitare l'effetto "Leslie" dell'organo elettronico. Fu molto usato dai chitarristi dalla metà degli anni '60 agli anni '70, poi fu sostituito dai modulatori di altezza digital-delay. Hendrix, con il suono "sott'acqua", il 19 Agosto del 1969 al festival di Woodstock, aggiunse un'altra impronta al repertorio dei suoi suoni; riconosciuta oggi dagli esperti come l'ultima orma del suo sentiero. Jimi Hendrix scomparve il 23 settembre 1970.
